Why Choose Us?

“I want to serve the best coffee at the best price,” is something Bill says often. In this simple statement holds the truth of demanding the highest standards from ourselves while graciously offering to others a fair and open hand. We strive to make the absolute best coffee, pay our farmers the best prices we can, and offer to the customer the best price for that best cup of coffee.

Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Jon graduated from Centre College in 1997 with a B.A. in History. Jon and Arelis moved to San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua full time in 2005, and Comunidad Connect was founded shortly thereafter. After 10 years in Nicaragua, Jon and Arelis returned to Atlanta where they now live with their children Jon Rockett and Camila. Jon is CEO and a board member for Comunidad Connect.

Jon Thompson
Coffee Farmer, CEO & Co-founder Comunidad Connect

We met Toni when he walked into our Tasting Room and asked us if we wanted to buy some coffee greens. We sampled his coffee with him and hung out.  He told us about his process and the care, the painstaking details he puts into the growing and processing, and of his vision to sell his phenomenal coffee direct to roasters so he can bring money back to his community to help the needy. Before he left we had purchased 300 some pounds and given him a list of other quality roasters in Atlanta. We look forward to years of working with him and drinking his coffee.

Finca El Cisne is a century old farm in the renowned coffee growing highlands of western Honduras. Finca El Cisne was founded by Don Armando Castejón Fiallos, an important and influential person in Honduras in his time. Since 1885, the land of Finca El Cisne originally known as Terreno Managuá, has been owned by the same family and has played an important role in the history of the region of Copán. That is why El Cisne´s coffee processing plant is one of the oldest in western Honduras.

About Us

William D. Letbetter, PhD Bio Physics

Head Roaster, Owner

Since our beginning in 1983 as Coffee Plantation, LTD, our shop has always offered something special: amazing specialty coffee, roasted fresh, and at an amazing price. At that time, there were not very many specialty coffee roasters in the city. You could look around and see Atlanta Coffee & Tea and then Martinez & Sons, but specialty coffee was unheard of. The Shreider family laid the groundwork by building an old-fashioned coffeehouse with a West Coast emphasis on specialty grade coffees. Bill Letbetter, our current owner, co-purchased the shop in 2005 and has added his scientific approach to our roasting. Anyone can import coffee, but the trick is finding the farmers that have the passion for what they do and their communities. What sets ACR apart? Our baristas that serve excellent coffee, roasted with precision and science, grown by phenomenal people who are restoring great communities. Come by and let us know how we can help make your day a little bit better.
